First day of Sikat and we even wrapped early. Sikat is the story of a mother from the Philippines who leaves her son behind and comes to Canada and becomes the nanny for Samantha and Tommy. She sends money back home for her son Jun Jun who is now 8 and eagerly awaits his arrival to Canada. Sikat is one of the six Crazy 8 films this year.
The crew surprisingly enough is mainly female. I'm helping out in the Art Department, which has been a breeze so far. *fingers crossed*
Tomorrow we shoot at UBC aka our Airport and back in New Westminster in one of the heritage homes. The house is partly owned by one of our crew members and it is gorgeous.

CIFF opening reception
Last night The Canada International Film Featival opened. My friend Janessa and I went to the Edgewater Casino had some free drinks and met some fellow filmmakers.
One thing I noticed was even though there was an age range from 20s to late 50s, everyone had the same level of expeirence. And would be willing to work on each others upcoming projects.

Wheelchair Curling - Paralympic Games
My mom, brother and myself went to the 12th Round Robin Curling Session at The Paralympic Centre aka Nate Bailey Stadium. We decided to get some food, what a bad idea that was $7 for the tiniest pizza I ever seen!
There were four teams playing; Canada vs. Italy, Great Britian vs. Japan, Germany vs. Sweden and Switzerland vs. Norway. I had no idea how they curled because how could they sweep? Alas they don't sweep at all it's all about pushing the rock with a stick and using the right strength and speed. The teams are also co-ed and instead of playing 10 ends they play 8.
The final standings were Italy 8 and Canada 7, Sweden 10 and Germany 3, Switzerland 10 and Norway 4, Great Britian 10 and Japan 3. Italy and Sweden now have to play to see who moves on to the Semi-finals. Canada is still first place and will be playing the winner.
Overall it was a great set of matches, the atmosphere in the venue was awesome! Everyone was making noise, we even had a few waves going. I just love the Canadian vibe!
